Tri-County Animal Rescue: Disaster Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The $1,000 Orvis Animal Care Grant was used for the veterinary care of our Hurricane Joaquin South Carolina flooding rescue.

This grant helped us tremendously. The 26 dogs we rescued from the flooding in South Carolina all needed routine veterinary care, including vaccinations, testing, microchipping and cleaning. Additionally, six were heartworm-positive and needed extensive treatments.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Brutus (first photo), 3-year-old boxer mix saved from the flooding in the Carolinas, found his forever home; he was adopted after a month at our shelter. He was heartworm-positive but his owners still knew he was going to be a perfect fit in to their family. Chase (second photo), a 7-month-old smooth-coated collie, arrived with hookworms, was not neutered and was sick with a cough and crusty nose. After treatments and neutering, Chase was adopted!
