Jacksonville Humane Society: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant from KIA America and the Petfinder Foundation helped the Jacksonville Humane Society find new, loving homes for 50 pets! Thanks to your support, we were able to host a Labor Day adoption event for the dogs and cats in our care. During this event, 50 pet adoptions were sponsored thanks to your generous support. We had 79 total pets adopted -- 45 cats and 39 dogs. Your support in marketing also helped increase foot traffic to our shelter.

Starsky (first photo) came to the Jacksonville Humane Society as a stray in mid-August. The Labor Day adoption special, made possible by KIA America and the Petfinder Foundation, began on the first Saturday in September.

Many adopters were interested in Starsky, but were wary of his size and the fact that he was heartworm-positive. Belinda and her husband, however, came by JHS on Monday when they were both off from work.

They fell in love with Starky’s big, brown eyes and asked to meet him. They were not worried about heartworms, as the last dog that they’d adopted was also treated for this disease.

They decided to make it official and took Starsky home! He is now named Rocky and is very much loved by his new family.
