This will go towards the medical bill for Burt. He is heartworm-positive, has broken and rotten teeth that will need to be extracted, has ear infections in both ears, and is totally emaciated. He is currently undergoing treatment and is not ready for adoption. From Facebook: “We are pulling Burt from Warren county in North Carolina. This is what the shelter said about him: ‘Burt has found himself in a situation no animal should be in — homeless! He’s elderly, most of his teeth are broken or rotten, and his skin is raw, cracked and painful from demodex mange. He watches people walk by him without a second glance while he wags his tail to catch their attention. He spends the rest of his time quietly thinking about having his own toys, a fluffy bed and warm hugs. These things he probably never experienced and may never experience. Burt is a sweet, gentle soul who deserves to live out the rest of his days knowing nothing but how good life can be; he just needs a chance. Burt is 10-12 years old and is being treated for mange and infection.’ As you can see, he is in bad shape and we don’t want him living out his life in a shelter. So we did the only thing that was right in our book: We pulled him and he will live a life of luxury while he is getting healthy and then hopefully we can find him a nice home.”
