Faithful Friends Animal Society: KONG Toys Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The 25 Kong products were used as part of our enrichment programs for dogs at our shelter waiting for homes.
Volunteers stuff Kongs with treats and peanut butter to distribute to our shelter dogs on a regular basis. Kongs are donated by supporters, and this product grant was extremely helpful in increasing our stock of Kongs to support this effort.
How many pets did this grant help?
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
In addition to the dogs at our shelter, several of the Kong products from this grant went to dogs in foster care. Jeffrey (first and second photos) and his litter mates came to us after a regional shelter reached out for help. His mother rejected him and his litter mates and the shelter had no foster homes to care for them. The puppies were at risk of being euthanized. Faithful Friends found foster homes for the puppies and they were bottle-fed and loved. The photos seen here was taken when Jeffrey was 8 weeks old. He will be neutered this week and will be available for adoption soon after. As you can see, Jeffrey LOVES peanut-butter-filled Kongs and they do a great job of keeping him busy! Also included are photos of two other dogs are our shelter — Rex (third photo) and Sir (fourth photo) — enjoying Kong products.
