Animals for Life: Stretch and Scratch Cat Scratchers Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Stretch-and-Scratch grant was used to provide Stretch-and-Scratch 'pads' to our shelter cats in their cages

This grant helped us to provide stimulation, exercise and stress-relief to the shelter cats in our care. It allowed each cat to have his/her own Stretch-and-Scratch accessible at any time to work their muscles and mark their 'territory'.

How many pets did this grant help?

We still have some scratch pads left...so far we have used about 20-25.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

We had one kitty in particular who used his Stretch-and-Scratch so much that we had to replace it every week or so during his 2-month stay. He really seemd to enjoy rubbing on it, and of course, scratching away on it. All of our cats used the pads once installed in their cages–especially once I put some catnip on them! Think the product is great—installing as high as possible inside the cage seemed to work best.
