Furry Friends Foster and Rescue Inc: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

During the pandemic, rescues like FFFR faced a two-pronged challenge: The requests for help from pet owners who could no longer care for their pets increased, and donations decreased markedly due to economic challenges when people could not work and lost income. The grant we received from the Petfinder Foundation helped us to be able to help more dogs while assisting in covering veterinary and day-to-day care for them.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

We got a call from a family that was homeless and living in a hotel with their dog, Neveah.

FFFR has a temporary foster care program, developed during the pandemic, where we are able to help dogs whose families are responsible pet owners but are temporarily unable to care for their dog due to life challenges.

Neveah’s family was asking for help with Neveah until they could find a new place to live, and we agreed.

Neveah was with us for about four months. We got her up-to-date with vaccines and spayed. She had a seizure disorder, which we treated. When the family was settled in a new house, she was delighted to be reunited with them.
