Sloppy Kisses Animal Rescue: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant was mostly used for the increased cost of food and supplies due to our normal food brand not being available; we also had some increased vetting expenses.

Dogs and cats need food :)

How many pets did this grant help?

We took 158 dogs and cats in April, May, and June, which is when most of the food shortage was.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Just as the Covid lockdowns were happening in Colorado, one of our New Mexico rescue partners reached out to us about a mom and litter of six 4-week-old puppies that needed rescue. Their owner had died in a freak electrical accident and all seven of them were headed to the shelter. They arrived at our rescue on March 19 in the middle of a blizzard. Mom was very skinny and underweight, but the pups were healthy. By the end of April, all had been adopted, including mom, and have found wonderful homes! A few of the pups have had DNA tests and they are some big pups, mostly Great Dane!
