The Gabriel Foundation: Trolli Dynamic Duos Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Trolli Dynamic Duos Grant helped 11 of our treasured adopters to provide homes for 14 birds. By lowering total adoption fees for these adoptions, the grant eased the initial cost of adoption for birds such as Saki, Denise, Nebula, and Kenya. The cost of caring for birds throughout their long lifespans inevitably adds up over the years, and the Trolli grant helped to reduce the financial barriers one may face when wanting to provide a loving home to a bird in need.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Each of the 14 birds that the grant supported were adopted and have continued to thrive in their new homes.

Kiwi, the orange-winged Amazon parrot (first photo), is well into his 40’s. Senior birds like him can have trouble connecting with potential adopters, as many prefer a bird they can anticipate many years with. With help from the Dynamic Duos grant, Kiwi went home with his new family, Mike and Boo (second photo).

Due to his age, Kiwi struggles with arthritis, causing limited mobility in his feet. Mike and Boo have taken this in stride by providing him alternative perching options, allowing him to enjoy a comfortable and enriched retirement.

All of our staff were thrilled with this placement, and we continue to read about Kiwi’s success in his new home as his family shares stories of his adventures.
