Grand County Pet Pals: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
We were able to offer 50%-reduced pet adoption fees for dogs and cats at the animal shelter. Our community is a small, rural community full of hardworking people. The reduced pet adoption fees really allow some families and individuals to adopt the dog or cat they have been wanting. The reduced pet-adoption fees also move animals out of our shelter quicker. This grant allowed us to take $30 off our standard adoption fee.

This little guy that the shelter named Captain came to us as a stray so we didn’t know anything about him. The one thing we did know was that he would make someone a wonderful friend.
After Captain was fixed and updated on all his shots, he was put up for adoption. It did not take long for him to find his forever home. A wonderful couple and their younger chocolate Labrador fell in love with Captain and took him home.
Ever since then, Captain, now called Paco, has had the best life ever. He gets to go on camping trips, hikes, etc. You name it, he gets to do it with his furry sister and awesome parents. We couldn’t be more happy for this boy. He is living life the way every dog should live it.
