Intermountain Humane Society: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
COVID-19 disaster funding of operating expenses
While our revenue sources of adoptions and thrift-store sales were closed for three months, we still had animals in our care during that time and kept our shelter staff employed to care for them. In addition to wages, we also had to cover our mortgage, utility, insurance, etc., payments.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Shasta, a beautiful German shepherd, was relinquished by her owner because the owner’s dogs were fighting with her. She arrived just before our shelter closed for three months. Shasta loved being our only dog on-site and had the run of the entire property except the cattery and catios (where 11 cats were housed during the shutdown). Shasta was a perfect dog with all of us, but not a fan of other dogs. We spent the three months with her working on behavior modification and are happy to report that Shasta was adopted out at the end of the summer.
