Burbank Animal Shelter: Sponsor a Pet Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The donated funds were used towards housing the sponsored pets at the shelter long enough for them to be adopted. The sponsored pets during quarter 4, Mimi and Coco, were adopted in December after having been at the shelter for approximately seven months. The shelter increased marketing for Mimi and Coco, who were a bonded, older pair with a few medical issues, and as a result, finding a suitable and willing adopter had been difficult.
This grant assists the Burbank Animal Shelter in its ability to continue to shelter animals looking for a forever home until a home is found. Adoptable animals are housed long-term until the perfect adopter comes along. Continual funds are essential in allowing the Burbank Animal Shelter to house animals, even long-term, so long as operations remain sustainable.

Mimi and Coco were turned in to the Burbank Animal Shelter and after seven months were still finding it difficult to get adopted. Despite being such a great, mellow, and loving pair, they were steadily and continually overlooked. Many potential adopters may have been overwhelmed with the idea of adopting a bonded pair needing future medical attention, with Coco, at 10 years old, considered “too old.” After increased marketing efforts for the two, Mimi and Coco were finally adopted by a celebrity couple in December and went off to live a happy and pampered life. Their new parents are absolutely in love and so happy to have been able to rescue them together.
