Karma Rescue, Inc.: Sponsor a Pet Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The generous $180 contribution from the Petfinder Foundation was used to offset the cost of half a month of dog boarding with a caring foster (@ $10/day) and half a month’s worth of high-quality dog food (@ $20/month).

Karma Rescue does not have a physical shelter for our dogs and cats. Instead, we rely on our network of dedicated and caring fosters who take the animals into their homes or facilities and help them begin their new lease on life. Some of our dogs are in pretty bad shape when we first take them in, and our fosters are fantastic with nurturing and helping the dogs adjust, heal and prepare for their new forever homes. We are only able to provide a nominal amount of financial assistance to our fosters, despite all the hard work and compassion they provide. The Petfinder Foundation helped ensure that much-needed shelter and food were available to a dog in need.

One dog, in an intensive, one-on-one manner

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Joy comes by her name honestly. Just looking into her sweet eyes, you now see a happy dog. Joy’s story has a happy ending, but not without previous heartbreak – and unconscionable abandonment. Joy was left behind by her previous owners with her mom and siblings in a backyard. All of the dogs ended up in a shelter, where we kept an eye on them until we were able to pull them and get them ready for a life transformation. On an interim basis, the dogs boarded at the Pooch Hotel and thankfully we were able to place them pretty quickly. Joy now has a wonderful home with a family who loves her and feels very lucky that she’s part of the pack.
