Los Feliz Animal Rescue: Emergency Medical Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant was extremely helpful in helping us pay for Spots the cat's medical care. He was diagnosed with cryptococcosis; fortunatley, it was in the early stages, but he remained on medication for four months. By the end of treatment and testing, his vet bills will total about $2,800.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Spots was noticed by a neighbor after he hadn’t moved from his spot on the street for 17 hours. As soon as we arrived, he walked over and let us put him in the carrier – he was just waiting for help!

After multiple vet visits and tests, he was diagnosed with cryptococcosis [a fungal infection]. We were able to use the grant money to do his latest blood test, and he was negative! We have to do another test in two months, and then he will be all clear!

From the start, he was a very loving cat who just wanted to be pet and give kisses and nibbles. He was always happy but lonely at his foster’s home and now he has a new kitty friend that he is crazy about. Even better, his foster is now talking about potentially adopting him!
