How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The 2023 Kia Pet Adoption Grant helped us discount adoption fees for several of the pets at our rescue! Lola, Zuma, Lexi, Lil Bean, Gracie, Georgie, and Benji all went to wonderful forever homes and some of the kittens and cats still at our rescue are available with reduced adoption fees. Thank you from all of our furbabies for this opportunity!

We rescued Lola (first and second photos) from a [high-intake] shelter in December 2022. Lola was a 4-year-old German shepherd who, at the time of rescue, weighed only 36 lbs. She was emaciated and desperate for love and affection.

With so many shepherds available for adoption, we knew finding the perfect home for Lola would be difficult. For eight months we worked on Lola’s rehabilitation, providing her with several vet visits, many grooming appointments, three consistent meals a day, and enrichment walks with a professional trainer.

Because our rescue was the recipient of the 2023 Kia Pet Adoption Grant, we were able to advertise Lola with an adoption fee of $125. Her amazing new family saw her on Petfinder and applied to bring her home! They were approved and on August 5, 2023, Lola went on to spend the rest of her life with her family. At Lola’s most recent vet visit, she weighed in at 60 lbs.!
