The Kong toy grant helped us to be able to purchase an orthopedic bed for our senior foster dog, along with supplements to help with pain in her joints and medication to keep her fleas and ticks off.

In fear, alone, and confused, Bella was abandoned in the Fresno shelter as an 11-year-old. In addition to being skinny and having a bad coat, she walked stiffly.

As soon as our foster Brittany saw Bella’s poor state, she offered her a foster home, but the shelter was almost three hours away. With the help of SF Husky Meetup’s admin and members, a transport team was quickly assembled and Bella was transferred from the shelter to the foster home!

In the first few days, she slept so much, it must have been the first time she had slept in a loving and comfortable environment.

Mendocino Animal Hospital took care of her quickly, examined her thoroughly, and prescribed joint supplements and anti-inflammatory medications.

After being abandoned at the shelter, Bella is now flourishing with Brittany’s great care, good food, and a comfortable bed while the dogs help her to regain trust. As a result, she has learned so much and she is now a sweet, funny, affectionate girl and has finally found her forever home!
