Strength of Shadow Dog Rescue, Inc.: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We used this grant to purchase dog food for the rescue dogs.

During the height of the pandemic, donations were down, but we continued to save dogs. This grant helped us maintain a consistent, balanced diet for all the dogs for three months.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

On of the dogs this grant helped was Sassy. Sassy is a 2-year-old pitty who came to us from the City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center. She is a happy-go-lucky, excited girl. She learns very quickly. She likes to play with dogs and kids, but also likes to explore the yard on her own. She gives great kisses. She is doing well on leash- and crate-training.

Sassy is a black pit bull who had her ears cropped. These three things make it hard to adopt a dog out. Luckily, someone saw Sassy for the great dog she is and she was adopted in August 2020. She is thriving in her new home and even has a little shih tzu fur-friend who loves to boss her around.
