Paw Works, Inc.: Bar Dog Operation Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
We initially applied for funds to purchase portable outdoor exercise pens for our large dogs, but shortly after our application was accepted, we were able to move to a larger facility with areas for permanent outdoor kennels and exercise pens.
We put the funds towards putting in state-of-the-art play areas and exercise pens. Our volunteers can play with the dogs, socialize them, and they can enjoy really stretching their legs! The pens are safe, secure, and designed for easy clean-up. We can now rescue more larger-breed dogs, as there is room for them to move around. Dogs can be allowed to play together in the larger pens.
How many pets did this grant help?
500
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
The dogs pictured are TJ, Rayne, and Lamb Chop (first, second, and third photos), shown with Moos in the fourth photo. Because they were not doing well in the county shelter, where they were shutting down emotionally, they were at high risk of euthanasia.
Because of the ability we now have to house larger breeds, these animals were transported to our new facility. They enjoy interacting with each other and the picture shows them relaxing and enjoying the sunny weather after several hours of vigorous playtime.
Due to these changes in personality, all four dogs have recently been adopted!
