Adopt Me Rescue: Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We rescued a dog name Jodie; she came into the shelter with a head and neck injury and it was suggested by a vet to have an MRI done. So all the money that was donated went to her MRI.

It helped determine if there were other causes or reasons for her head tilt and head trauma and we wouldn't have known anything without the MRI.

How many pets did this grant help?

One dog

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

The grant went directly to a dog named Jodie whom we rescued from the shelter. She came in with a head and neck injury. She could not hold her head up or walk for at least a couple of days once we rescued her from the shelter. We took her two days later to a specialist to have an MRI done. The vet did not see any causes as to why her head tilted other than from blunt-force trauma to her head and neck. They said over time hopefully she’ll regain strength back into her neck and she’ll be able to hold her neck back up, and that has happened. She still has a slight head tilt and walks normally, but will then walk into a circle, which is caused by her injury. Due to her injury and since we have no idea what caused it, she has trust issues.

We haven’t posted her up online yet because she still isn’t ready for adoption yet. She is still so afraid of people and we are afraid she will jump out of someone’s arms. Once she starts to trust people more we will plan on posting her up online. Thank you so much for the grant and allowing her a better quality of life.
