Lovebugs Rescue: KONG Toys Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We received 20 Kong toys and they were given to our foster care providers. We randomly selected dogs that responded to playing with the Kongs and then let them take the toys to their forever homes upon adoption.

With over 295 rescues and adoptions in 2015, you can't imagine how excited our foster care providers are when they receive a new item for their rescues to utilize or play with! We are 100% volunteer- and donation-based, so seeing a few doggie eyes light up with a new toy can be the highlight of our day.

Sara Lee (first two photos) came to us as a stray in the shelter and was very nervous. She responded to the Kong immediately, which helped her release some of the tension. We filled it up with some peanut butter a few times, which she loved the most! Eventually, she warmed up to the foster home and was adopted by a sweet family — her forever home! Of course, we sent her home with her bed and Kong toy.
