Forgotten Paws Animal Rescue: All-Star Dog Rescue Celebration Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Rescue and medical rehabilitation of adoptable small dogs.

We were able to give a few very deserving middle-aged Chihuahuas the oral care they desperately needed. They had been suffering excruciating pain, gingivitis, cracked or broken jaws, infection and nasal fistulas. This can at any level prevent them from eating and drinking as needed to support life. We also treat any metabolic or other issue that this or their previous lives has brought on.

How many pets did this grant help?

We helped three directly with this grant and the balance went to two others we were already helping at our own expense.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Little Miss Flo was found in the back of a shelter with no food she could eat and some old water. She was 2.7 lbs. that day. She had a very difficult time walking as she could not support her rear end. She was 2.5 lbs. the day we were allowed to exit her and rush her to our vet. Her mouth was one of the worst I have ever seen. She did great through the surgery and is now recuperating and getting her strength back. She will be a while with us on special foods, water rehab and just good old-fashioned rest! Thank you, and Miss Flo thanks you!
