Spud was a 5-year-old pit bull whom our organization accepted as a relinquishment in June 2013. His owner was going overseas for work, and the county shelter would not take Spud in as an owner surrender due to his behavior. We worked diligently with Spud, but unfortunately he had several unprovoked attacks on children while in our care, and in February 2015, the difficult decision was made to humanely euthanize him. We all struggled with this decision, but felt that we could not safely place Spud with an adoptive family due to his unpredictable behavior.
