The Pet Rescue Center (Orange County Pet Rescue Center, Inc.): Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Pet Rescue Center received five ThunderShirts, valued at $199.75. These products were used to help calm our rescued dogs in boarding, as well as enabling them to walk better with our volunteers, and help prepare them for adoption appointments.

Being that we are in a boarding facility, it can be stressful at times for the rescued dogs. Since receiving the ThunderShirt grant that included various-sized ThunderShirts for our dogs, we have seen an amazing change. Please see the specific stories of Champ and Cassidy below. Both of these dogs are still available for adoption and listed on Petfinder.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Champ and Cassidy have been with The Pet Rescue Center for some months now waiting for their forever homes. Both dogs had a tendency to vocalize their frustration and seemed more stressed out than our other dogs. Since receiving the grant that included various-sized ThunderShirts for our dogs, we have seen an amazing change. Both pups have been barking less, which helps to keep all the dogs in the boarding area less stressed. They also are walking better when out with our volunteers. When being shown to potential adopters, they are more focused on the people and able to relax. Meet Champ and Cassidy:

We recently had a Chihuahua/pug mix, Farrah, adopted. After hearing about her success with a ThunderShirt, her adoptive family purchased one for her to help adapt to her new home and surroundings.

We will continue to use these ThunderShirts for a long time to come. We recently saved nine dogs from euthanasia at the county shelter, and we are sure that the ThunderShirts will be of use to them as well.

Thank you so much for your generous support of animal rescue!
