Feral Cat Warriors: Cat Enrichment Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The Cat Enrichment grant was a major boon for Feral Cat Warriors, as it allowed us to purchase cat trees and toys that would have otherwise been out of our budget. We soon found out that these enrichment items were essential for the cats in our foster program, as they afforded them an opportunity to let out their energy and to reduce stress-related behaviors. Even the more docile cats became very active and playful thanks to the enrichment items.

Our cat enrichment program saw one of its greatest success stories with Slash.
She was found on the streets, homeless and deprived of sustenance. Even though she was never hostile to our staff, she kept her distance, appearing scared.
After her medical needs were attended to and she was spayed, a difficult decision was faced about whether she should become a working cat. A volunteer that had spent a lot of time with her wanted to give her an opportunity and placed her in a foster home with an environment of cat enrichment.
In barely a week, Slash was having fun, climbing cat trees, chasing toys, and seeking love and care from her foster mom. Eventually, she was adopted at one of our retail partners and is now living her best life in her new home.
