Standing Proud Pit Bull Rescue: KONG Toys Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Kong grant was used to provide safe enrichment for our dogs while they await adoption. The Kongs were distributed to our foster homes to ensure each of our dogs got to enjoy this grant!

The Kong grant has been extremely useful during the month of August. We are currently dealing with monsoon season in Arizona. With the powerful rain, thunder and high winds, many of the pups get uneasy. We have peanut butter-filled Kongs prepped in the freezer to help distract and calm the dogs down during these storms. We have many heavy chewers in rescue, and having a huge supply on Kongs will help keep the costs down instead of our having to purchase toys all the time!

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

This grant was extremely helpful to Dulce, who has been with us for about eight months now. Dulce sometimes deals with pretty bad anxiety, which stems from some insecurities he has developed. When crate training, we have used peanut butter-filled Kongs as a positive reinforcement. Dulce also does not handle thunderstorms very well. He absolutely loves when he is given a yummy stuffed Kong to keep him calm and busy during the storms. These Kongs have not only helped him keep busy but helped build his confidence to further ready him for adoption! Meet Dulce:
