Humane Society of Marion County: Dog Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We are so thankful for the Dog Enrichment Grant. The dogs at our all-volunteer, no-kill animal shelter are loving the tether tug toys and the jolly balls. These toys are enriching and keep the pups occupied and happy while waiting for their forever homes.

Some of the dogs are anxious when they come to us and some are even scared. Toys like these are so beneficial to their mental health and also help them interact with the volunteers and potential adopters.

Thank you so much for this opportunity to have high-quality toys to enrich the dogs' environment while they await their forever homes. It is a blessing to have this opportunity!

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Jubilee was abandoned down several miles of gravel road and left with her siblings with no food and water. They were starving and appeared to be waiting for someone, anyone, to come help them. A good Samaritan found them and brought them to us.

Jubilee is one of the many dogs being helped by this grant. She loves the toys. While it was initially evident that she had never had a toy in her life, she quickly investigated and decided they were fun! This grant has helped her and her siblings and is keeping them active and enriched while awaiting their homes.

You can meet Jubilee here.
