Cabot Animal Support Services: Play Yard Renovation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant has been a true lifesaver for the dogs at our shelter! With the funds we received from the Petfinder Foundation, we were able to partially fund a play yard canopy to provide shade for the dogs during playgroups.

This year has already proven to be brutal with the heat and humidity. The dogs would typically only play in the yard for a short time before they wanted to go back indoors to get out of the heat. With the addition of the play yard canopy, the dogs (and occasionally a pig) are able to enjoy a longer time in the play yard to expel all of their extra energy.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Bandit is currently our longest-term resident dog at the shelter. He has been with us since September.

The play yard has been a game-changer for him. He came in very shy and timid. Since he’s had the opportunity to “just be a dog” in playgroups, he has really blossomed into a sweet, loving dog who enjoys the company of other dogs.

The addition of the canopy allows him to play in the yard longer while having a retreat for shade during the super-hot days.

Bandit is still looking for his perfect home and would love a family that has another playful dog!

You can meet Bandit here.
