Fetching Hearts Rescue: P.L.A.Y. Pet Beds Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The grant allowed us to provide much-needed beds to our foster parents for our wonderful puppies and dogs that we bring in from overcrowded shelters in Mississippi, Tennessee, and Alabama.
Having these beds frees up monies that we would have needed to spend on purchasing beds for our foster homes and allows us to use these funds for other needed items, such as flea/tick and heartworm preventative medications, medical needs, spay/neutering, and other miscellaneous expenses that arise.
How many pets did this grant help?
We adopt approximately 400 dogs per year, so this will help several of them. The beds are washed and used for several dogs at our foster homes.
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Meet Red! This handsome guy was found as a stray in Mississippi. He came into the shelter and we found out he had heartworm. We treated him and now he is negative! He is one sweet boy!
Red is a big, loveable, and goofy boy. He is always happy and wants to please his people. When Red sees you, he gets excited and does want to jump on you, especially if he knows you have treats for him.
Red will make a awesome family-dog candidate. We put him as “older kids” because of his jumping. Red loves to share his toys with his dog siblings. He will run around the fenced yard with them and have such a smile on his face when playing. He loves his toys and playing fetch with you, but be prepared, he might not always bring it back. Red is also crate- and housetrained. His commands still need work, but we know he is very smart.
If you want a fun, loving, and goofy boy, Red is the one for you and your family. He would love to explore with you on hikes, chill in the backyard that is fenced or cuddle up on the couch with you or in his bed on a rainy day. Don’t miss out on this handsome boy! You can meet Red here.
